Issue No. 236
Catania Airport in Sicily has resumed operations. The flights were launched on Saturday after the volcano Etna threw ash to an altitude of 3,324 meters.
The alert was reduced from red to orange after a week of closure. During this time, the plans of thousands of tourists fell through, but now flights are on schedule.
This volcano is the highest active in Europe. It erupts frequently and attracts millions of lava watchers while the threat to airspace decreases.
