Registration with AIRE in Italy costs up to €1,000 per year. Italians abroad are fined if they do not submit data to the consulate on time.

The AIRE system collects personal information from citizens of an old country living abroad. Fines are accrued each year of delay, but a maximum of five years.

Without registration, you lose access to public health. But with a temporary visit, treatment is free up to 90 days a year. You can update the address online through the FastIt portal.
