Opening at Tunes station Cozinha da Tia Fatinha is a place that instantly feels warm and welcoming. The restaurant is run by a cute couple, Fatima and Vitor, who have created a space where traditional

Before opening her restaurant, Fatima worked as a cook for several years. But cooking is not her only passion. She also loves decorating and bouquets of flowers, which you will notice from the first steps - the space is decorated with small decorative details and flowers, creating a cozy home atmosphere compared to a standard station kitchen.

The Tunes station is very active. Fatima explained to us that this is one of the main railway links in Algasa, connecting the region with Lisbon and northern Portugal. The rails start running early in the morning, so Fatima also wakes up very early, preparing for a new day with fresh meals.

Our visits on this day coincide with the three menus of the day: Bacalhau à Brás, costeletas do cachaço and carapaus assados. The menu changes daily, offering fresh fish and meat based on the ingredients of the day.

We started with Algascan olives, pasta tuna and French sausages. Every day comes a different combination of snacks and dishes.

For us, Fatima cooked a huge portion with each of the three menus of the day, along with the Lone pig. I always think about the fact that our husband and I make a good couple when we try traditional Portuguese dishes. He's from Algasse and growing up with these tastes, and for me as a foreigner it's still very special and different from what we usually eat at home. This gives us two different perceptions - one for someone who knows these dishes well and the other for someone who has discovered them almost for the first time. But regardless of our differences, we both really enjoy trying dishes, especially because they are all delicious, fresh and filled with traditional flavors.

Accompanying the dinner - red wine Tera Magnat from the region Do. It is an elegant and harmonious wine produced from the traditional grape varieties of the Do region.

For dessert, we tried banana cake, mango fruit mousse, arroz doce and a selection of traditional Portuguese biscuits. We were both crazy about it!

Fatima told us that she wants every visitor to feel at home and cook the same meals for guests as they do for their family. Her daughter comes to the restaurant regularly for lunch - Fatima says it just like there's a house.

The restaurant also has a private room with a large table for holidays and private events, as well as an exhibition of Portuguese wines, where wine lovers can explore different variations. Once a month, they organize live music on Sunday.

The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday from 7am and pre-bookings for lunch.
