Greek islands see record 55% summer price surge across Europe

According to AirDNA analysts, average daily rates in Greece jump nearly 55% higher from June to August compared with the rest of the year. This represents the steepest seasonal price spike on the continent. The entire holiday rental economy here is concentrated into three summer months, with prices falling sharply during the off-season.

Mykonos tells a particularly extreme story. Summer nights there command nearly €760, roughly two-thirds more expensive than the shoulder season. Island demand is exceptionally high, and property owners are well aware of it.

Yet even at these rates, tourists continue to book. For summer 2026, 3.9 million nights have already been reserved—9.3% more than the previous year. Greece remains a premium destination, and this positioning shows no sign of changing, even as prices spike in June.
