Tiny Dolomites village outpaces famous resort as foreign buyers' top choice
Nearly 30 per cent of all foreign property enquiries in Belluno province are directed towards Tambre, a diminutive mountain village that has eclipsed even the celebrated Cortina d'Ampezzo in popularity.
What draws investors? First and foremost, price. Properties here can be found for under €100,000—chalets awaiting renovation, cosy apartments with mountain views. By contrast, a second home in Cortina demands a substantial budget. In Tambre, mountain living comes at an accessible price point.
Second is authenticity and tranquillity. Life here moves to the rhythm of the mountains and seasons. Breakfast overlooking the Dolomites, hiking along mountain trails, wine and local delicacies. This is not mass tourism, but authentic Italy.
Third is the village's renaissance. Local authorities are developing sustainable tourism, new hospitality projects are opening, cafés are appearing, and hiking routes have been marked. Germans, Americans and Canadians are arriving—people who value nature and simplicity.
Many choose Tambre as a seasonal retreat or base for remote work. The village is transforming into a small international community living in harmony with local residents.
