Portugal offers relocation support for workers moving inland

Portugal's Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) offers financial support to workers moving to the country's inland regions. The Emprego Interior Mais programme pays up to €3,759.91 for a permanent employment contract, or €2,685.65 for a fixed-term contract lasting at least one year. An additional payment of €805.70 can cover the cost of moving belongings.

The support is available to citizens of the EU, Switzerland and the EEA, and to people moving to areas such as Beja, Bragança, Castelo Branco and others. The move must be permanent and take place within 180 days before or after starting work.

The funds are paid in two stages: 60% within 10 working days after the documents are submitted, and 40% in month 13. The programme cannot be combined with support measures for returning emigrants.
