More than €105 million is pouring into social housing in the Algarve. Seven municipalities applied for 11 projects, ranging from the construction of new homes to the renovation of existing buildings.

Lisbon is not yet involved, but the region is actively funding affordable housing from the European Regional Development Fund. While the first stage of applications for €28 million is closed, the second is open until March 2027. The program will cover from 30 to 70% of the costs while complying with environmental regulations.

Portugal continues to struggle with a shortage of affordable housing and is developing infrastructure for students and workers.
