The EU may ban the British from buying second homes. Lawmakers are preparing to pass a law that will restrict the purchase of real estate by tourists from countries outside the Schengen zone.

Citizens of the UK and other non-EU member states will be at risk. Now the rules allow foreigners to buy a living space for recreation or investment.

The new rules change the status of such purchases. If the rule comes into force, Britons will have to look for housing inside their home or apply for a residence permit to buy objects abroad.
