Portugal leads a global ranking of house-price growth
The cited report places Portugal at the top of the house-price growth ranking, at 15.2%, while its global comparison shows a decline of 1.2% in the first quarter of 2026. Housing remains scarce in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve. The Russian post cites an average of €3200 per square metre, 7.5% higher than a year earlier.
A proposed reduction in VAT for qualifying construction to 6% may support future supply, but new homes will take time to reach the market. Affordability remains under pressure.
