Portugal wants to reduce the notice period for eviction to three years. It's now five years old, but authorities plan to simplify the process for owners for major repairs.

The government proposes to assess the scale of work not by bureaucracy, but through cost statistics. If tenants are required to move out, compensation will increase: at least two years of rent instead of the current rate. The parties will agree on this within 30 days or receive the money.

Special protection will remain for the elderly and people with disabilities: they will be offered similar housing. The purpose of the reform is to increase the free lease fund and establish a market.
