Seven Algarve landmarks reach Portugal's new wonders contest

Seven Algarve sites have advanced to the national stage of the Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal competition, one in each category. They include Aljezur Castle, Marina de Portimão, the Ribat da Arrifana, the Church of Santa Maria do Castelo in Tavira, the Olhão markets, Portimão Arena and the Palácio de Estoi. The contest focuses on buildings and monuments that reflect Portugal's history and architecture.
