🇵🇹Portugal Issue No. 122

Remote workers in Portugal pay taxes twice: first in their home country, then in Portugal.

If you work for a foreign company but live in Portugal, this applies to you. The Portuguese tax office requires all residents of the country to declare income not only within Portugal, but also earnings from abroad.

How it works: Appendix J of Form Model 3 is used to file your tax return. All income received abroad is deposited there and taxes already paid there are indicated. This is a must, even if you are sure there will be no additional payments in Portugal.

The deadline for filing returns is approaching, so if you work remotely for a foreign company and live in Portugal, check the requirements of the AT tax office. You can't ignore it.
