🇵🇹Portugal
Issue No. 349
Portugal has refused to cut gasoline taxes, as Spain does. Minister Maria da Gracia Carvalo explained that money is needed for medicine and schools.
Instead of global rebates, the government will return the overpayment of VAT to drivers if prices soar too much. Over the past six months, more than €700 million has been allocated to farmers and logistics.
Fixing prices at gas stations is also excluded - it will hit the budget. Support will continue until the situation stabilizes.
