Greek hoteliers are demanding a government VAT discount of up to 6.5% and tighter controls on short-term rentals.
The Federation of Greek Hoteliers (HHF) has sent Premier Kyriak Mitsotakis a five-point letter. The main argument: taxes in Greece are more pressing than in competitors in the Mediterranean.
Proponents of tough rent regulation want to include a ban on renting in areas with a shortage of apartments. It is also asked to simplify loans for seasonal hotels and maintain a direct beach competition.
