In Portugal, it is more difficult to buy an apartment for an average salary than in the Netherlands and Switzerland. The new study covered more than 22 million ads in 30 European countries per year.

Experts note: on the coast - Lisbon, Porto, Algarve - local incomes do not cope with prices. On average, you can buy less than 50 square meters or even rent a house. Tourism and investment push prices up, and in the hinterland, choices are limited.

The problem is systemic: almost half of Europe faces the same lack of access to housing. Experts urge not to seek solutions at the country level, but to act point-by-point.
