🇵🇹Portugal
Issue No. 274
Portugal's largest solar power plant in the Algarve is about to be sold. The capacity of the facility is 220 MW, but revenues fell due to low current prices and technical failures.
The owner was Welink Energy, which went into bankruptcy. Major creditors are demanding around 64 million euros. The contract company is seeking arbitration of 143 million euros for controversial construction issues.
The management team has moved on to new investors who plan to combine the project with wind turbines and drives. The decision on the connection with the wind turbine is still waiting for approval from the country’s eco-agency.
