18 climate shelters have opened in the Alentejo region. This is a network from the project Stay Cool, where the temperature in the summer is kept at a comfortable 26 degrees.

Asylums are scattered throughout the municipalities: Almodar, Aronšes, Castelo de Vide, Cuba and Moro. Tourists can go inside on hot days to avoid stuffiness outside.

The organizations are overseen by the regional tourism authority Alentejo and Ribatejo. Now vacationing in Portugal has become safer not only from the sun, but also from overheating.
