🇵🇹Portugal
Issue No. 257
Swimming in the famous Playa da Nazar is not recommended. Water contains excess microbiological contamination.
Portugal imposed a temporary ban on entry into the sea on August 20. The reason is that the results of the tests from August 18 showed indicators that had not been seen before. This is an isolated incident, local officials say, but swimming is not allowed.
The season is in full swing and the beach is visited by thousands of tourists. Access to the sand is open, but jumping into the water is dangerous until further checks are made. The lifting of the ban will be reported after receiving fresh test results.
